Alkali Scientific MacConkey Agar, 1 Kg

Supplier: Alkali Scientific ACC001CP
MacConkey Agar is a selective culture medium designed for isolating and differentiating Gram-negative bacteria, particularly enteric organisms. It contains bile salts and crystal violet to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria, allowing the growth of only Gram-negative organisms. The medium also includes lactose and a pH indicator, which differentiates lactose fermenters from non-fermenters based on color changes. Lactose fermenters appear pink or red, while non-fermenters remain colorless or pale. MacConkey Agar is widely used in microbiological laboratories for the isolation and differentiation of enteric pathogens like Escherichia coli and Salmonella from clinical and environmental samples.
