MacConkey Agar is a selective and differential culture medium used to isolate and identify Gram-negative enteric bacteria. The formulation contains bile salts and crystal violet to suppress the growth of Gram-positive bacteria, making it ideal for isolating enteric pathogens from fecal or environmental samples. The medium includes lactose and a pH indicator to differentiate between lactose fermenters and non-fermenters. Lactose fermenters produce acid, turning the colonies pink or red, while non-fermenters remain colorless or pale. The 2kg size is perfect for high-volume testing in clinical, environmental, and food safety laboratories.
