MacConkey Agar 20mL Plates, 10/Pk is a selective and differential medium designed for the isolation of Gram negative enteric bacteria and the differentiation of lactose fermenters from non lactose fermenters. The formulation contains bile salts and crystal violet, which inhibit the growth of Gram positive organisms and promote selective recovery of Gram negative bacteria. Lactose and the pH indicator neutral red enable visual differentiation, where lactose fermenters produce pink to red colonies while non fermenters remain colorless or transparent. Each plate is pre poured with 20mL of sterile agar to ensure consistent depth and reliable culture conditions. These plates are widely used in clinical, environmental, food, and water microbiology laboratories for routine bacterial isolation and identification.
