MacConkey Broth, 5mL, 13x100mm Screw Cap Polycarbonate Tubes, 10/Pk is a selective enrichment medium used for the detection and presumptive identification of coliform bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli, in water, food, and dairy samples. The formulation contains lactose, bile salts, and neutral red to support the growth of Gram negative lactose fermenting organisms while suppressing unwanted microbes. Acid production from lactose fermentation produces a visible color change that aids identification during microbial testing procedures. Each tube contains 5mL of prepared broth in durable screw cap polycarbonate tubes that minimize contamination risk and support secure handling. The medium is commonly used for microbial limit testing, Most Probable Number (MPN) analysis, and routine quality control in microbiology laboratories.
