An automated solution for the sequential isolation of both high-quality genomic DNA and total RNA from whole blood or bone marrow samples, when paired with a KingFisher purification system.

The MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA kit and reagents, when paired with a KingFisher purification system, are an automated solution for the sequential isolation of both high-quality genomic DNA and total RNA from whole blood or bone marrow samples. This innovative kit and standalone reagents eliminate the need to purchase and run separate DNA and RNA purification kits, streamlining your workflow and maximizing efficiency.

The MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA kit and reagents, when paired with a KingFisher purification system, are an automated solution for the sequential isolation of both high-quality genomic DNA and total RNA from whole blood or bone marrow samples. This innovative kit and standalone reagents eliminate the need to purchase and run separate DNA and RNA purification kits, helping streamline your workflow and maximizing efficiency.

Features of the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit include:

  • Test utilization management—obtain more information using minimal sample volume to help preserve precious samples
  • Versatile workflow solutions—flexible workflow enables low- to high-throughput sample processing and various sample input volume formats
  • Easy identification—color-coded lid labels enable quick reagent identification, helping to minimize the risk of costly errors
  • Sequential DNA and RNA isolation—obtain high-quality genomic DNA and total RNA from the same blood or bone marrow sample
  • Compatible with KingFisher instruments—for a streamlined, automated workflow solution
  • Expand hematologic research—separate, ready-to-use DNA and RNA eluates for use in broad range of downstream applications
  • Available as stand-alone products—reagents available in larger volume bottles sold separately

Made for KingFisher purification systems

The MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit is compatible with the KingFisher Duo Prime, KingFisher Flex, and KingFisher Apex purification systems, allowing for a semi-automated workflow with a total turnaround time in about 2.5 hours. By isolating genomic DNA and total RNA from a single sample in one sequential workflow, the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit simplifies nucleic acid purification for a broad range of molecular downstream applications, such as PCR and sequencing. This all-in-one kit is an excellent choice for researchers seeking an automated, efficient workflow that delivers reliable results from limited sample material.

Working with higher throughput sample numbers or input volumes?

The MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit reagents are also available as stand-alone products sold separately. These reagents come in larger volumes to facilitate high-throughput sample processing and accommodate higher sample input volumes. When purchased as a set of eleven stand-alone reagents, users will have sufficient MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA reagent volumes to process 440 samples ranging from 200–500 μL each.

Can I use the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit to isolate small RNAs?

Yes, the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit can be used to isolate total RNA, including small RNAs, down to 20 nucleotides.

With the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit, do you have a KingFisher purification system protocol to isolate nucleic acid from a sample input volume of lesser than 100 microliter of whole blood?

We have not verified nucleic acid isolation from whole blood using sample input volumes <100 µL. It may be possible to isolate nucleic acid from a sample input volume of <100 µL of whole blood by bringing the volume up to 100 µL using phosphate buffered saline (PBS). Users are advised to conduct their own assessments and analytical validations in accordance with their laboratory guidelines.

With the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit, do you have a KingFisher purification system protocol to isolate nucleic acid from a sample input volume of lesser than 50 microliter of bone marrow?

We have not verified nucleic acid isolation from bone marrow using sample input volumes <50 µL. It may be possible to isolate nucleic acid from a sample input volume of <50 µL of bone marrow by bringing the volume up to 100 µL using phosphate buffered saline (PBS). Users are advised to conduct their own assessments and analytical validations in accordance with their laboratory guidelines.

What type of blood collection tubes are compatible with the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit?

Blood collection tubes containing K2 EDTA additive have been verified for whole blood and bone marrow samples. Users who utilize different blood collection devices or additives are advised to conduct their own assessments and analytical validations in accordance with their laboratory guidelines.

With the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit, what is the maximum sample input volume that can be used in the 96 deep-well format?

The maximum sample input volume that can be used with the 96 deep-well plate format is 150 µL. Sample input volumes greater than 150 µL, combined with reagents exceed the maximum well volume of 1 mL for a 96 deep-well plate. Sample input volumes ranging from 200-500 µL require the use of the 24 deep-well plate format.

Can I use the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit to isolate nucleic acid from cells or tissue samples?

We currently do not have workflows verified for sample types other than whole blood or bone marrow. Users are advised to conduct their own assessments and analytical validations in accordance with their laboratory guidelines. To isolate total RNA from cells and tissues, we recommend using the MagMAX mirVana Total RNA Isolation Kit (Cat. No. A27828) and to isolate DNA from cells and tissues, we recommend using the MagMAX DNA Multi-Sample Ultra 2.0 Kit (Cat. No. A36570). For sequential or single analyte isolation from FFPE tissue samples, we recommend using the MagMAX FFPE DNA/RNA Ultra Kit (Cat. No. A31881).

In the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit workflow, where should I add my samples for RNA processing?

The same Sample Plate is utilized for both DNA and RNA extractions. Initially, the Sample Plate is used for DNA extraction, and it should be retained for subsequent RNA extraction steps in the workflow.

What is the maximum white bood cell (WBC) input for the MagMAX Sequential DNA/RNA Kit workflow?

A maximum of 2.5 million WBC/150 µL input (1.675 x 10E10/ L) or 7 million WBC/500 µL input (1.4 x 10E10/ L) can be used.
