Description

Used to stain acidic epithelial mucins, such as sialomucin and sulfomucin, as well as stromal (mesenchymal) mucins.

  • Stain is particularly useful in diagnosing conditions like Barrett's esophagus, mesothelioma, atherosclerosis, and adenocarcinomas
  • The dye binds to the negatively charged sulfur and/or carboxyl groups of mucins, depending on the pH used, allowing for the visualization of acidic mucins in tissue samples
