Description

Gold Chloride

  • Used as a toner in some histological silver stains converting metallic silver to metallic gold
  • For use in silver staining cuts to obtain better resolution, with a lighter background and a finer, more stable metal deposit
  • The staining process involves adding gold chloride, followed by removal of unreduced silver and excess gold chloride with sodium thiosulfate
