  • Phosphotungstic Acid Hematoxylin (PTAH) is a histological stain used to demonstrate collagen, muscle striations, and central nervous system structures
  • It binds to fibrin, collagen, and fibres of connective tissues, and replaces the anions of dyes from these materials, selectively decoloring them
  • PTAH is used to show gliosis in the central nervous system, tumors of skeletal muscles, and fibrin deposits in lesions
