Mefenpyr-diethyl is a pyrazoline-type herbicide safener that functions by enhancing lipid biosynthesis. It effectively prevents herbicide-induced phytotoxic damage caused by certain herbicides, protecting cereal crops such as wheat. This compound significantly increases lipid content in wheat, whether applied alone or in combination with fenoxaprop-p-ethyl. Its mechanism of action does not involve the induction of glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity in wheat.
