Direct fluorescent antigen detection of chlamydia in McCoy cells

  • Infected cells are visualized using a fluorescence microscope
  • Employs fluorescein (FITC) conjugated monoclonal antibodies specific for all known serotypes of Chlamydia trachomatis as well as Chlamydia psittaci
  • Positive results: 1+ or greater fluorescence; negative: no fluorescent chlamydia inclusion bodies seen
  • For in vitro diagnostic use
