EcoStain is a rapid staining procedure designed to stain intestinal parasites from stool that has been fixed in nonmercury-based PVA preservatives. Components generally stain purple to red; cytoplasm usually stains blue/green; stool background generally stains blue/green/purple. Hemo-De and Modified Hemo-De are provided as xylene substitutes in the dehydration and clearing steps.
