Description

MES hydrate is a zwitterionic N-substituted aminosulfonic acid, known as Good’s buffer, is utilized for many biological applications.

  • Applications: A useful resolving agent for very small proteins on bis-tris gels. It is mainly used as a biological buffer in plant cell cultures. Buffer solutions are used as a means of keeping pH at a nearly constant value in a wide variety of chemical applications.
  • Solubility: Soluble in water. Slightly soluble in organic solvents.
  • Notes: Hygroscopic. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
