Supplier: STEMCELL Technologies 73252
Inhibit mitochondrial respiratory chain complex 1 with Metformin (Rena et al. Diabetologia, 2013; Viollet et al. Clin Sci, 2012). This AMPK activator inhibits tumor cell growth in various cancer cell lines and in mouse xenograft models (Dowling et al. J Mol Endocrinol, 2012). By activating the aPKC-CBP pathway, Metformin promotes neurogenesis in mouse cortical precursors and human forebrain neural precursors in vitro, and in adult mouse central nervous system in vivo (Wang et al. Cell Stem Cell, 2012). Metformin is also used in metabolism research, with applications such as reducing fatty liver disease in obese (ob/ob) mice (Lin et al. Nat Med, 2000) and inhibiting secretion of the adipocyte hormone leptin in mouse brown adipocytes (Klein et al. J Endocrinol, 2004). Metformin is supplied as a crystalline solid with ≥98% purity; Molecular weight 165.6 g/mol; CAS Number 1115-70-4. Visit STEMCELL.com for more information and related products.
