Methoxamine hydrochloride is a selective alpha1-adrenergic receptor agonist that causes vasoconstriction and increases peripheral vascular resistance. It has been observed to significantly increase the overflow of ATP, ADP, and AMP, but not adenosine, via a prazosin-sensitive mechanism in the rabbit pulmonary artery. It is intended for research use only and is not sold to patients.
