Description

StatLab Michels Solution - used to preserve and transport specimens for examination in immunofluorescence studies

  • While not a fixative, specimens can be held at room temperature for five days in transport medium before processing
  • This simple salt solution maintains pH but does not kill most pathogens
  • Specimens received in transport medium should be washed in three changes of Michels Wash Solution (10 minutes for each wash)
  • Not suitable for FISH studies
