Mithramycin noncovalently interacts with G-C-rich duplex DNA in the presence of Mg2+ or Zn2+. It induces differentiation of leukemic cells accompanied by an early decrease in c-myc expression. It selectively inhibits collagen-1 gene expression in human fibroblasts. Alternative name: Plicamycin. Purity: ≥95% (HPLC, TLC). Solubility: Soluble in phosphate buffered saline (1mg/ml), 100% ethanol, DMSO or methanol. Long Term Storage: -20°C.
