Mitiglinide Calcium (KAD-1229 anhydrous) is an insulinotropic agent and an ATP-sensitive K+ (KATP) channel antagonist. It is highly specific to the Kir6.2/SUR1 complex (the pancreatic beta-cell KATP channel) and can be used for the research of type 2 diabetes.
- ATP-sensitive K+ (KATP) channel antagonist
- Highly specific to the Kir6.2/SUR1 complex (the pancreatic beta-cell KATP channel)
- Can be used for the research of type 2 diabetes
- Inhibits Kir6.2/SUR1 channel currents in a dose-dependent manner (IC50 value, 100 nM) in COS-1 cells
- Does not significantly inhibit Kir6.2/SUR2A or Kir6.2/SUR2B channel currents even at high doses (>10 μM) in COS-1 cells
- Suppresses the increase in plasma glucose levels after a meal load and the area under the curve for plasma glucose levels (AUCglucose) up to 5 h after the meal load in pregnant Wistar rats at doses of 1-3 mg/kg (p.o.)
