Mitraphylline is the major pentacyclic oxindolic alkaloid found in Uncaria tomentosa. It inhibits lipopolysaccharide-mediated activation of primary human neutrophils and exhibits antiproliferative activity in human glioma and neuroblastoma cell lines. Mitraphylline can also inhibit interleukin release in vivo.
