DESCRIPTION: Our bioactive FGF-2 (FGF-basic) Mouse, E. coli Recombinant Protein (146 aa), also known as truncated Fibroblast Growth Factor 2, is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain that contains 146 amino acids and has a 16.3 kDa molecular mass. The FGF2 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. APPLICATION: FGF basic is a critical component of human embryonic stem cell (hESCs) culture medium; the growth factor is necessary for the cells to remain in an undifferentiated state. FORMULATION: Sterile filtered white powder lyophilized from 5mM Na2PO4, pH7.5 and 50mM NaCl. PURITY: Greater than 95.0% (SDS-PAGE). BIOACTIVITY: The activity as calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of BALB/3T3 cells was found to be less than 1 ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 1,000,000 units/mg.
