Supplier: BioVendor, LLC RMEE023R
Growth Hormone Mouse/Rat ELISA, 96-wells. Immunoassay kit for quantification of GH in mouse or rat serum or plasma samples. Two Control Sera are provided for QC purposes. Sample vol. 20 ul/well. Calibration range: 0.0445 ng/mL. Detection limit: < 0.04 ug/L. Synonyms: Somatropin, GH1, GHN, IGHD1B, GH-N, GHB5, Growth hormone 1, pituitary growth hormone. SUMMARY: GH is the product of GH-1 gene and expressed in pituitary cells. 80% of the gene expression results in a non-glycolsylated 22 kDa protein with 191 amino acids. Excessive hGH secretion, mostly caused by pituitary adenoma, results in childhood in gigantism, in adulthood in acromegaly, leading to enlarged extremities, diabetes, heart insufficiency and tumor growth. If tumor excision is not possible or incomplete, a somatostatin therapy is used to inhibit hGH production. Alternatively hGH analogs are used to block the hGH receptor. hGH determination has been used in diagnostics and therapy control for GH deficiency or GH excess.
