MouseTRAP Assay (TRACP 5b mouse) ELISA, 96 wells: immunoassay kit for determination of mouse tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (TRACP 5b) in mouse serum samples, or with in vitro mouse osteoclast cultures to measure TRACP 5b activity from cell lysates or culture medium. Secreted TRACP5b indicates the number of osteoclasts, thus TRACP5b values in mouse osteoclast culture medium can replace microscopic counting of osteoclasts, and serum TRACP 5b values can replace histological measure of osteoclast number in mouse bone. TRACP circulates in blood as TRACP5b (derived from osteoclasts) or TRACP5a (from inflammatory macrophages). TRACP5b is secreted into blood circulation as an active enzyme that is inactivated and degraded to fragments before removal from circulation.
