Mowiol(R) is a water soluble hydrocolloid mucoadhesive based on poly (vinyl alcohol). Mowiol(R) at pH 8.5 has a couple of advantages over other mounting media:its a liquid when the sample is mounted and solidifies after several hours, forming a permanent bond between the coverslip and slidefluorescence is stable when held in dark and at 4oC.Mowiol(R) is used as an embedding medium for preserving stained cell dishes in the study of siRNA array production of HeLa cells. Mowiol(R) is also reported to be used as a mounting medium in:design of TSAR and its applicationsdetection of the secreted and cytoplasmic fractions of IpaB, IpaC and IpaD by lysozyme permeabilizationfluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP).Mowiol(R) may be used as a coating for sensors based on piezoelectric quartz crystals. Another probable use of Mowiol(R) is during the study of super fluorescence imaging of biocompatible carbon dots.Mowiol is a registered trademark of Kuraray Europe GmbH
