Lysing Matrix Y contains 0.5 mm diameter yttria-stabilized zirconium oxide beads and is used to lyse yeast, fungi and algae.

Lysing Matrix Y tubes can be used with FastPrep instruments or similar bead beaters. The yttria-stabilized zirconium oxide beads have a high density and hardness for cracking tough cell walls, yet a smooth surface for minimizing shearing.
