Mueller Hinton Agar with 5% Sheep’s Blood (SM), 24mL Plates, 10/Pk is an enriched culture medium designed for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and the cultivation of fastidious bacterial organisms such as Streptococci and Haemophilus species. The addition of 5% defibrinated sheep’s blood enhances the recovery of fastidious organisms and allows observation of hemolytic activity, while maintaining the standardized performance required for disk diffusion testing. Each 100 x 15mm plate contains 24mL of agar to meet CLSI recommendations for proper media depth, ensuring reliable zone of inhibition measurements. This medium is widely used in clinical microbiology laboratories for antibiotic susceptibility testing, respiratory pathogen isolation, and routine bacterial culture workflows.
