MWY Selective Supplement is a lyophilized antibiotic supplement for the selective isolation of Legionella species from clinical and water samples. Each vial, sufficient for 500 ml of medium, supplies polymyxin B sulphate, glycine, anisomycin and vancomycin together with bromothymol blue and bromocresol purple as differential indicators that suppress competing bacteria and fungi while letting Legionella develop. Rehydrate with 50% aqueous ethanol and add to molten Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract Agar Base with the matching growth supplement. Store at 2 to 8 C. Packaged as 5 vials.
