Nebivolol hydrochloride is an orally active beta receptor blocker with high beta(1)-receptor affinity. It possesses direct vasodilator properties and adrenergic blocking characteristics. It is used for the research of diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and ischemic heart disease.
- Improves endothelial dysfunction by stimulating endothelial nitric oxide synthase activity and through antioxidative properties.
- Inhibits human coronary artery smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells proliferation with IC50 values of ~6.0 μM after 1, 2, 4, 7, or 14 days of incubation (0.1 μM-10 μM).
- Induces a moderate rate of apoptosis in human coronary artery smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells after 24 hours of incubation (0.1 μM-10 μM).
- Increases NO formation and decreases endothelin-1 secretion in HaCEs (0.1, 1, 5, 10 μM, 4 days).
