Aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits translation by binding to the small subunit of prokaryotic ribosomes. Inhibitor of phospholipase C (PLC; IC50=1-10µM) due to binding to inositol phospholipids. Neomycin inhibits phosphatidylcholine-phospholipase D activity (IC50=65µM). Blocks voltage sensitive Ca2+ channels without affecting Na+/Ca2+ antiporters in nerve cells. Induces PLA2 activation in human platelets. Solubility: Soluble in water (10mg/ml). Long Term Storage: -20°C.
