Netilmicin (Sch 20569) sulfate is a broad-spectrum semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic. It exhibits antibacterial activity against aminoglycoside-susceptible gram-negative strains and aminoglycoside-resistant strains.

  • Exhibits antibacterial activity against a range of gram-negative and gram-resistant strains including *Escherichia coli*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, *Proteus*, *Staphylococcus aureus*, *Streptococcus*, *Serratia*, and *Enterobacter*, with a MIC of 0.125-8 μg/mL.
  • Shows in vivo antibacterial activity against many clinically important bacteria in CF1 mice, particularly against strains resistant to Gentamicin and Tobramycin that produce the adenylating enzyme ANT (2'').
