NIH/3T3 is a fibroblast cell line that was isolated from a mouse NIH/Swiss embryo. This cell line is highly sensitive to sarcoma virus focus formation and leukemia virus propagation and has proven to be very useful in DNA transfection studies. This cell line is a multiclonal population and we no longer test this cell line for contact inhibition. Please refer to note under specific applications for additional information and new clonal cell line maintaining contact inhibition.
