What should I do if the reaction zone color on the Nitrate, Quant Test Strip is the same as or darker than the darkest color of the color scale?

If the color of the reaction zone is the same as or darker than the darkest color of the scale, we recommend that you repeat the test using fresh, diluted sample until a result of less than 500 mg/L nitrate ion is observed.

What protocol should I follow when using the Nitrate, Quant Test Strips?

We recommend the following protocol to use the Nitrate, Quant Test Strips:
1. Take one strip from the container and immediately close the container.
2. Immerse the reaction zones of the test strip in the pretreated sample for 1 second. The sample should be 59-77°F (15 - 25°C).
3. Remove the test strip and shake off excess liquid from the strip.
4. Wait 1 minute and then compare the color field on the label with the reaction zone on the Nitrate test strip.

Note: Samples containing more than 500 mg/L nitrate ion must be diluted with distilled water. The pH must be between 1-12. If the pH is lower than 1, add sodium acetate. If the pH is greater than 12, adjust with tartaric acid. Extract solid samples by an appropriate method.
