Description

Novobiocin is used to study heat shock protein inhibition 1 and to produce positively supercoiled plasmid DNA.

It is an inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase and eukaryotic DNA topoisomerase. It also is an inhibitor of retrovirus RNA-dependent DNA-polymerase.
