ODN 2216 is a human-specific Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) ligand or agonist. It induces high amounts of IFN-α and IFN-β, and also induces IFN-α by plasmacytoid DC (pDC) and IL-12 (p40) production by dendritic cells (DC). It stimulates IFN-γ production in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) indirectly via IFN-α/β.
