Olopatadine hydrochloride is a second-generation selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist and a potent anti-allergic drug with mast cell stabilizing and anti-histamine properties. It significantly inhibits ear swelling and the production of several interleukins (IL-4, IL-1beta, IL-6), GM-CSF, and NGF in lesioned ears.
