Omigapil maleate is an orally active inhibitor of GAPDH nitrosylation that can reverse Aβ1-42-induced tau acetylation, memory impairment, and locomotor dysfunction in mice. It has potential for research into Alzheimer's disease and congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD). It also acts as an apoptosis inhibitor and is a click chemistry reagent containing an alkyne group that can participate in copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition with azide-containing molecules.
