Description
- With this interactive model your students create base pairs and combine them to make a model of plasmid.
- Learn about gene cloning or genetic engineering by carrying out a restriction enzyme digest and adding a gene insert.
- nsert can represent either the insulin or green fluorescent protein (GFP) genes.
- Students learn about plasmid structure, use of vectors, marker genes, restriction enzymes recognition sites, sticky ends, multiple cloning sites, and promoters.
- Takes about 20 minutes to make if divided between 5 groups of students. Can be kept intact and reused once assembled.
