The Origami Organelles Translation and Protein Synthesis Model offers a way to teach protein synthesis and ribosomes.

  • Ribosomes are the factory workers of the cell. Your students will build their own model ribosome out of paper that they can hold in the palm of their hand. They will then use the model to make a peptide from five amino acids using transfer RNAs (tRNA) following a messenger RNA (mRNA) sequence.
  • Covers: translation, protein synthesis, codons, anticodons, messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA). Useful as homework or classroom activity.
