Candling monitors the development of the embryo within the egg allowing infertile eggs to be removed before they become infected and contaminate others. Egg candling also monitors the rate of enlargement of the airspace within the egg as a gauge of incubation humidity and for more detailed analysis of development such as vein growth. The Brinsea OvaView egg candler is designed to be either hand-held or can be left on a work surface. Battery powered for convenience it uses high output high efficiency LED illumination – so no bulbs to replace and no concerns about overheating the eggs during inspection. Supplied with a flexible black ring to seal against the eggshell and a set of 4AA batteries, it can be used with rechargeable AA batteries. Suitable for candling pale, plain shells (most species of hen, duck, goose, etc.). For darker and mottled eggs the Brinsea High Intensity Ovaview is recommended (part # NC1247924).
