Whole brain segmentation panels are designed for study whole brain of small animals. The animals' whole brain was procured intact and was fixed in formaling, then it was sliced into 6 equal coronal regions. Each region is 2 mm thick. The 6 regions were embedded in the same paraffin block. The paraffin section panel cut from this block can enable scientists or research investigators do biochemical analysis, such as the determination of neurotransmitter and metabolite concentrations for reproducible brain regions (i.e. discrete terminal fields or nuclei).
