Penicillin G Procaine hydrate (PGP hydrate) is a β-lactam antibiotic and a sustained-release formulation. In vivo, Penicillin G procaine (hydrate) hydrolyzes to release penicillin G and procaine, which delays the absorption of penicillin G.

  • DMSO solubility: 250 mg/mL (424.65 mM); requires ultrasonic; use newly opened DMSO due to hygroscopic nature affecting solubility
  • H2O solubility: 3.14 mg/mL (5.33 mM); requires ultrasonic
  • Powder storage: -20°C for 3 years or 4°C for 2 years
  • In solvent (stock solution) storage: -80°C for 2 years or -20°C for 1 year
  • Aliquot and store prepared solutions to prevent inactivation from repeated freeze-thaw cycles
