Description

Pepsin is used for proteolytic digestion of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections prior to the application of antibodies in immunohistochemistry (IHC). It has been used to enhance the permeabilization of fungal cell walls during the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) process and utilized during the RNA scope in situ hybridization process to perform antigen retrieval.
