Peptide YY (PYY) is a gut hormone that regulates appetite and inhibits pancreatic secretion. It acts through Neuropeptide Y receptors and belongs to the pancreatic polypeptide family. This 36-amino acid peptide is secreted from L cells in the gastrointestinal tract and can strongly inhibit secretin-stimulated pancreatic secretion, reducing bicarbonate and fluid secretion. It is also found in blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction.
