Determine fermentation reactions of bacteria with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Phenol Red Broth with 1% Lactose.

Vera recommended using casein peptone in fermentation test media because of its high growth-promoting qualities1. It was reported that peptone could be used with phenol red as the pH indicator in fermentation tests.

Phenol Red Broth is a complete basal medium prepared with phenol red as an indicator, which changes the medium to yellow when acid is produced. Carbohydrates may be added to the broth base in a final concentration of 1%. A Phenol Red Broth Base Control
