Phenol Red Broth with Dextrose, 8mL with Durham Tube, 10/Pk is a differential culture medium used to evaluate carbohydrate fermentation and gas production in bacterial species. The medium contains phenol red as a pH indicator and dextrose as the fermentable carbohydrate source. When bacteria ferment dextrose, acid production lowers the pH and changes the color of the medium from red to yellow. Each tube also contains a Durham tube that captures gas produced during fermentation, allowing simultaneous observation of acid and gas formation. The 8mL prepared broth is supplied in 13 x 100mm screw cap tubes for secure handling and contamination control. This medium is widely used in biochemical testing panels for microbial identification in clinical, food safety, and environmental laboratories.
