PHM1-41 is a fibroblast cell line isolated in 1992 from the uterus of a pregnant female obtained at the time of elective cesarean section at 39 weeks gtestation. The myometrial cells were isolated by enzymatic digestion and retain many morphological and phenotypic responses in common with cultured primary myometrial cells. They are useful for long-term or coordinated studies, as their behavior is quite reproducible and the alternative to obtain material from patients is labor intensive and variable.
