The osmolarity and ion concentrations of Phosphate Buffered Saline with Poly 80 (PBST) solution usually match those of the human body (isotonic), creating an environment ideal for maintaining cell viability and the recovery and revitalization of injured or damaged cells. When polysorbate 80 is added, it provides a neutralizing property for disinfectants or cleaning solutions to further allow the recovery of cells.
