This pure GST from Schistosoma japonicum is useful in a variety of applications involving GST-tagged fusion proteins and glutathione affinity purification. The expression of foreign proteins in E. coli using a glutathione S-transferase (GST) fusion system is a method of choice for studying the function of particular proteins, for purifying interacting factors and for generating antibodies against fused proteins. Analyses involving GST-tagged proteins usually require or benefit from the use of pure GST as a control or standard.
