Description

Used as a counterstain in many special stains such as Iron, Reticulum, Fontana Masson, and Alcian Blue stains.

  • It selectively stains nuclear chromatin red and provides non-specific background tissue staining in shades of pink
  • This dye is particularly useful for analyzing various sample types, including hematologic elements, bone and calcium, carbohydrates and mucosubstances, connective tissue, and fats and lipids
  • It is often used in conjunction with silver oxidizing solutions to enhance the differentiation of specific cellular components
