Polyoxyethylene (10) lauryl ether is a nonionic surfactant that exhibits unique properties in dissolving liposomes and minimal interference with endotoxin detection. It can form hybrid liposomes with Dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) which inhibit the proliferation of human promyelocytic leukemia cells and enhance the anti-tumor activity of DMPC by inducing apoptosis in HL-60 cells.
