Invitrogen™ ProcartaPlex™ Human Steroid and Thyroid Hormones Panel, 7plex
Description
The ProcartaPlex Human Steroid and Thyroid Hormones Panel, 7plex, enables the simultaneous quantification of seven hormones in a single well using Luminex xMAP technology. The assay is based on a competitive immunoassay format, in which the target analyte in the sample competes with a labeled tracer for antibody binding. As a result, the detected signal is inversely proportional to the hormone concentration in the sample.
The panel is provided in a ready-to-use format with individual vials of capture and detection reagents formulated at 1X concentration, requiring less pipetting and experimental setup. It is not combinable with simplex kits or other panels.
ProcartaPlex preconfigured panels are extensively tested for analyte combinability, interference, and cross-reactivity to provide the highest level of validation and precision. ProcartaPlex panels are supplied with the necessary reagents to perform the assay.
Target list [bead region]:
Testosterone Competitive [37], Thyroxine (T4) Competitive [63], Triiodothyronine (T3) Competitive [38],
DHEA-S Competitive [43], Estradiol (E2) Competitive [26], Progesterone Competitive [35]
About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform
Depending on the analyte, ProcartaPlex assays are based on either sandwich ELISA or competitive immunoassay principles.
- Sandwich assays use two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of the target protein.
- Competitive assays measure small molecules or analytes with limited epitopes, where the sample analyte competes with a labeled tracer for antibody binding, resulting in an inverse signal.
How the technology works
ProcartaPlex assays use Luminex xMAP technology, in which microscopic magnetic beads are internally dyed with precise ratios of red and infrared fluorophores. Each bead population has a unique spectral signature and is coated with antibodies specific to a single target. This allows different analytes to be measured in parallel within the same well.
Unlike traditional ELISA, where antibodies are immobilized on a plate, ProcartaPlex reagents are free-floating in solution, improving reaction kinetics and enabling efficient multiplexing with the following benefits:
- Multiplexing efficiency—measure up to 80 protein targets simultaneously
- Low sample volume—as little as 25 μL for serum or plasma, or 50 μL for cell culture supernatant
- Time-saving workflow—results in approximately four hours
- High Throughput - 96-well and even 384-well assay formulations are available helping conserve valuable samples while increasing assay efficiency.
ProcartaPlex multiplex panels and simplex assays are available for six (species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine) .
