Pseudomonas Isolation Agar is a selective microbiological medium formulated for the isolation and differentiation of Pseudomonas species, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, commonly found in water systems, pharmaceutical cleanrooms, and industrial environments. The formulation contains Irgasan (triclosan), which suppresses many competing Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria while allowing Pseudomonas species to grow. P. aeruginosa typically produces distinctive pigments such as pyocyanin (blue green) and fluorescein (yellow green), enabling rapid presumptive identification under visible or UV light. Each plate contains 20mL of sterile agar poured into standard Petri dishes, providing consistent surface depth and moisture retention for reliable colony formation and incubation. These ready to use plates are widely used for environmental monitoring, pharmaceutical quality control, and microbiological research.
